At APU we view everyone who participates in our vision as investors rather than donors.   There is a very important distinction to be made between donors and investors and we believe strongly that when you invest in human potential, particularly that of adolescent girls living in poverty, your investment is one that grows and strengthens with each coming year as our students move towards becoming independent women capable of creating change in their communities and families.

Invest In A Girl – And She Will Do The Rest!

SPONSOR A GIRL

Each year, 80 young girls are chosen to attend APU.  This depends of course on whether we can find sponsors for all 80 of the girls.  Our girls begin their secondary schooling at APU in Form 1 and spend the next four years completing their secondary schooling. We are always looking for new sponsors and a sponsorship can begin at any time during the school year.

Our sponsors are matched with individual girls in Form 1 and are sent pictures and a biography of their sponsored student. As a sponsor, you will be able to send letters of encouragement to your sponsored girl and she will write back. The importance of the relationship between sponsors and students cannot be understated. Your sponsorship means the world to your sponsored girl and she will hold you in her heart, along with pictures and letters that you send to her, forever.  For the first time, your sponsored girl will feel valued and important.  She will know that someone believes in her, and that person can be you if you choose to join our sponsorship program.

Your sponsorship of $1000 per year ($85/month) for four years will cover the cost of tuition, food, mattresses and bedding, uniforms, medicine, textbooks and field trip costs for your sponsored girl. 

If the cost of sponsoring a girl on your own appears daunting, become a GROUP SPONSOR  and join together with friends or family to share the cost.

JOIN OUR BRICK BY BRICK CONSTRUCTION CAMPAIGN

In just over 4 years, APU Secondary School has grown to include 4 Hostels, 3 Class Blocks, 2 Staff Duplexes, a Water Tower, and a Cafeteria.  This incredible growth is due in large part to individuals, companies, service clubs and school groups who have invested their own funds or raised funds towards our various construction projects.

When you join our Brick By Brick Construction Campaign, you can choose which construction project you want your investment to be put towards.  If your investment equals more than half of the cost of your chosen project, an engraved bronze plaque will be attached to your building and you will be asked to choose the wording for the plaque.  For example, some of our buildings have been donated in memory of a loved one, or named after an individual or family.

Currently, we are raising money to be put towards the construction of the following projects. 

• Science Lab ($65,000)
• Class Block #4 ($65,000)
• Staff Duplex #4  ($60,000)

If the cost of these buildings seems daunting to you, remember that every one of our 10 buildings has been built Brick By Brick, by donors just like you.  Every brick counts and no donation is too small to make a real difference in this project.  This is a team effort and we need you on our team!
