Construction at the APU SITE
From Henry at the work site: The APU initiative aims at changing peoples lives - more especially the womenfolk of our society. While I was thinking that this will happen sometime in the future, I have only realized that it has already started . As of now the bulk of our workforce on the construction site are women - maybe 70% or so. A good number of these women have a story to tell. We have many cases of single mothers, widows, second or third wives, young female family heads, etc. One typical example was right today when I picked out somebody I thought was too young to be employed at APU. I told the site foreman that it wasn't proper for him to recruit minors. Surprisingly he told me she is a single mother of three under-fives who also has to look after her granny and terminating her employment as a legal requirement would be removing her only hope of a livelihood.
The Classroom block, the teachers' house, and the hostel are all well underway
